Lisa Kolar

Lisa Kolar

Owner+Huge Boss Lady

lisa@twpfitness.com

Most of you wouldn't know that Lisa started at TWP 7 years ago as an overweight, depressed pack -a-day smoker!  She is never proud of that story, but can tell you that she is forever grateful to TWP, and the people that encouraged and helped her to believe in herself throughout her journey! Lisa would head to the very back of the class (much like high school) and try to convince herself that she wasn't going to die, while admiring the more fit people in front of her. There were many members and trainers that she followed and slowly built a tribe with, without even knowing it was happening!  Soon Lisa was joining classes and groups that she never thought she would!  People made her feel so welcome and comfortable that it encouraged her to keep going. The healthier she got and the better she felt, Lisa wanted to pay it forward and encourage other people starting out!

Now as the owner of TWP she TRULY wants to keep that feeling alive at this incredibly special gym! 30 pounds lighter, a non-smoker, and 30 times stronger, these are the core values that we promise you our team will run this gym with!

"While being brought up in Kelowna, I was always taught how important active living was.  My parents made sure that growing up I always played on an assortment of sports teams including Volleyball, basketball, soccer and track and field. As I got older, I decided to follow my passions and became certified through BCRPA in Fitness Theory, Weight Training, Personal Training and Group Fitness … and have never looked back !  Looking ahead to my work at TWP, I am very excited to show women how much fun living an active and healthy lifestyle can be, and how functional training can be so effective in your everyday life.  Even today my hobbies include playing soccer, golf, volleyball, tennis and squash."

Caity has been instructing fitness classes at TWP Fitness since 2009.  She is a BCRPA certified group fitness instructor, with an array of classes under her belt.  She lives and breathes a healthy active lifestyle, always looking for that next natural energy high.  If she’s not in the gym making you sweat, you’ll find her rolling around on her yoga mat, or, out in the mountains exploring and chasing waterfalls. “I workout to keep my body strong and be able to do the things I love. Climbing mountains either on foot or on two wheels requires strength, stamina, and determination."  In the gym, she looks to challenge her classes, keeping it fresh and motivating, exploring new limits, and discovering that you really can accomplish your goals if you set your mind to it.  “We as humans spend so much of our time doing things we don’t want to do, giving up our lives to serve others instead of ourselves.  We dread our alarms in the morning, we plan our whole lives around work and others, and wait for things to magically change or appear.  We need to take charge and make ourselves a priority! Get up, get active, and feel good! I swear it works!”

Carol Domanko

Carol Domanko

Group Fitness Instructor

Carol discovered yoga while working on her film degree at UBC in Vancouver. Yoga was the perfect compliment to her active lifestyle as a runner and cyclist, and helped her stay sane with all the pressures and stresses of school and everyday life. She knew that it was her calling to share yoga with others, so in January 2011, Carol signed up for a yoga teacher training course with Nicki Doane and became certified in Maya yoga. She'll never forget the first day she watched a group waking up from savasana, knowing that she was a channel for people to awaken and heal through the magic of yoga the same way she had. Since then, Carol has made yoga a way of life, a means for self-expression, and a way to connect with something beyond herself - a place where we are all one.  She looks forward to seeing you in her classes! Om Shanti, Namaste!

Roxana Horna

Roxana Horna

Group Fitness Instructor

"I was born and raised in Lima-Peru and move to Canada in 2001. I have been teaching Zumba Fitness since February 2010, and it has been a blast!

The flavours and rhythms of the Latin culture have always been a big part of my life, and after taking my first Zumba class I felt in love with it immediately and I was inspired to become a Zumba Fitness Instructor. I have attended 2 of The Zumba Fitness Conventions in Orlando, in 2012 and 2014, where I have taken many workshops and trainings and also I got to meet the Creator of Zumba, Colombian Beto Perez! I'm licensed to teach Zumba Toning (Zumba with light weights), Zumba Step, Zumba Sentao , Zumba Kids and Aqua Zumba, all great Zumba programs that I really enjoy teaching.  I love every element of Zumba, the music, the rhythm and the energy that my students bring to class every time. My style of teaching is all about high energy and having fun. When I teach, my goal is for people to feel the music and let loose, without being overly concerned about whether they are doing it right or wrong. I really love to see people enjoy themselves as they dance and get fit. I am thankful everyday for being able to reconnect with my roots and to do what I love: share my love and passion for music and dance with everyone."

Vicki Saarinen

Vicki Saarinen

Group Fitness Instructor

"I have been instructing for 7 years with the practice being a part of my daily routine. I recently retired from dentistry which had been my profession for 40 years, being a team member of the same dentist for 30. My 34 year old son lives on the Sunshine Coast where he is an arborist, surfer, musician and very much a free spirit. Learning to ride motorcycle at age 44 had been a goal of mine as I rode passenger for many years and currently own a 650 Boulevard. Running and volunteering at Hospice House fill up part of my time as well as enjoying weight training and the variety of classes offered here. I hope to make a difference in people’s lives through my teaching and may it bring the same peace, fulfillment, gratitude and joy that it has for me. Look forward to seeing you on the mat. Namaste."

Marie Bayes

"I started teaching in December 1985. Throughout the years I have taught all levels and types of classes. Having a full time job I now focus on my passion and teach primarily cycle classes. My interests & hobbies include being outdoors, hiking, biking, swimming, reading a good book or watching a good movie. Over the years I have seen a lot of changes, and I am glad to be a part of such an inspiring team of instructors and trainers. My passion for teaching comes from the joy I derive knowing that in some small way I may have helped someone to reach their fitness goals. Come join me sometime!"
